Smart Tachographs
Smart Tachographs
Digital tachos ruled the roost from 2006 until 2019 when they were replaced by Smart Tachographs
We are now on the second generation of Smart Tachographs.
Get up-to-date and up to speed with the features, functions and how to operate these Smart Tachographs.
A basic overview, so just some of the subjects, we cover in methodical detail within this module :
Driver Card
You probably know it as your tacho card or digicard, it's official name is Driver Card.
We'll be taking a look at it and explaining what changes have been made to your Driver Card over the years, as new features and functions have appeared on our tachographs.
The Smart Tachograph
We'll give you a full explanation of the features and functions to be found on these Smart Tachographs.
How the authorities can remotely interogate your tacho, how your firm can remotely download your tacho, how the tacho uses a satellite hook up to determine and record exactly where your vehicle is located.
How the tacho records your activities
We'll look at exactly how your tacho goes about recording your activiites and how the authorities expect you, and your employer, to keep your records, for presentation at the roadside, or inspection at your company's premises.
We'll cover UTC, local time and how to go about recording "Out Of Scope" activities.
Lost Driver Card or defective tacho
We'll show you exactly what you must do if you lose your digicard, or it malfunctions, how to report that loss or malfunction, and the exact procedure you'll need to follow until you get a replacement card.
We'll also show you the procedure you must follow if you find yourself having to drive a vehicle with a defective tachograph.
Tachograph Calibration
By law tachographs have to be periodically recalibrated.
We'll explain what the legal requirements are and exactly what you, the driver, needs to do to ensure that the vehicle you are driving is legal.
Manual Entries
So many drivers still do not record the legally required manual entries onto their Driver Card.
In failing to do so they are leaving themselves open to risk of prosecution for failing to keep proper records.
We work through step-by-step on a Smart Tachograph simulator exactly what a driver needs to know to enable them to make manual entries.
